Having had a Quarter Back clear out of their own the Cleveland Browns have decided to give ex Carolina Panthers QB Jake Delhomme the job for the 2010 season. This will be keep up the good old Browns tradition of having a new starting Quarter Back virtually every season since 1999.  This trend will probably continue for a year or two yet as at 35 Delhomme who is is coming off his worst season as a pro is no long term solution. Despite last seasons woes he is still 58-40 as a starter with Carolina and he led them to their only Super Bowl appearance in the 2003 season, a narrow 3pt loss to New England. Browns fans everywhere will be hoping his arm has a couple of seasons left in it yet.

Cleveland Browns Snap Up Fugita & Pashos

With Free Agency now underway the Cleveland Browns have taken the opportunity to strengthen both their defensive and offensive lines with two signings.

The signing of Scott Fujita is a good one and the $14 million contract over three years which, includes $8 million guaranteed is not a bad deal for a player of Fujita’s caliber. He played in all three of New Orleans Saints post season games gaining a Super Bowl winner ring, and has been a consistent performer throughout his career which has also included time at the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys. At 30 he still has plenty of years ahead of him and he will bring some strong leadership skills to the Browns Defense which ranked 31 in yards allowed last season giving up 6229 yards and conceding and average 23.4 points per game.

Offensive tackle Tony Pashos is a bit more of a gamble in my opinion and at $10.3 million for a 3 year deal quite a pricey one. Having said that he has only played 37 games in a career that has spanned Baltimore, Jacksonville and San Fransisco so he probably has not been given much of a chance. Lets hope he takes this one and proves the Browns scouting team correct.
